Mounted Yolin display on an electric bike handlebar.

Yolin Display Error Codes Explained (All Protocols)

BlackJack

If your Yolin E-bike display shows an error code, it is not random. It is a system protection signal.

Every Yolin display communicates continuously with the controller, motor, throttle, brake sensors, and battery. When communication becomes unstable—or a safety threshold is exceeded—the display reports it.

This guide helps you determine whether the issue is:

  • Wiring-related
  • Sensor-related
  • Controller-level
  • Or a temporary communication interruption

Important: Yolin manufactures display systems used by various electric bike brands(such as Engwe, Heybike, Aipas and more). Final vehicle configuration, controller setup, and wiring architecture are defined by the e-bike manufacturer. This guide explains what the display is reporting — not full vehicle diagnosis.

Step 1 — Perform a Safe System Reset

  1. Turn the bike off completely.
  2. Wait 10 seconds.
  3. Turn it back on.
  4. Ensure the battery and display connectors are fully seated.
  5. Confirm brake levers return fully.

Many temporary communication errors are caused by unstable voltage or loose connectors. If the error disappears and does not return, it was likely a transient signal interruption.

Unified Yolin Error Code Reference (All Protocols)

Yolin displays may operate under different communication protocols depending on the bike manufacturer, including Standard P1/P2, LKLS, and 5S/KDS/J Protocols. The same function may have different numeric codes.

Function Category Standard P1/P2 LKLS 5S/KDS/J Typical Meaning What To Check
Communication Fault E002 Error10 / 11 E030 Display not receiving controller data Check display cable and harness integrity
Motor Hall Fault E003 Error07 E024 Missing Hall sensor signal Inspect motor cable and phase wiring
Brake Fault E005 Error05 E025 Brake signal detected continuously Ensure brake lever returns fully
Throttle Fault E004 Error08 E022 Throttle signal abnormal Check throttle connector
Controller Fault E001 Error09 Controller abnormality Contact your bike manufacturer
Motor Phase Loss E006 E023 Motor phase disconnected Inspect motor phase wiring
Current Abnormal E021 Overcurrent detected Hardware inspection required

Most Common Case: Communication Fault (E002 / E10 /E11/ E030)

Communication errors are among the most common field cases. This means the display is powered, but it cannot receive stable data from the controller.

Typical causes include:

  • Loose waterproof connector
  • Bent connector pins
  • Harness damage near the head tube
  • 5V signal line interference from throttle or PAS sensor

Quick Diagnostic Logic

If the error appears immediately at power-on → Likely wiring or hardware issue.

If the error appears only during riding → Likely intermittent connection.

If the error clears after reset but returns randomly → Inspect signal integrity and cable routing.

If a brake-related error disables motor output → Check brake sensor alignment before assuming controller fault.

Correct diagnosis starts with signal isolation—not part replacement.

When to Stop Riding

  • The error returns immediately after reset
  • The motor does not engage
  • You smell burning or see damaged wiring

In these cases, contact your bike manufacturer or service provider for inspection.

Contacting Yolin Display Support

If you need assistance specifically regarding the display system, please provide:

  • Display model
  • Display serial number (engraved on back)
  • Bike brand and model
  • Photo of error screen

An error code is a signal — not a verdict. Diagnose logically and ride safely.
